She acted much less mature than I would expect someone in her situation to need to act. I get that she’s only 18 and that she’s insecure in their relationship because of the intense things going on in her life, but Lake really annoyed me. I struggled with the plot during the first half of the book because the fight Will and Lake had was just stupid to me. For a while I kept forgetting who was “I” because it didn’t feel like Will’s voice to me. I didn’t like Will’s narrative as much as I liked Lake’s in Slammed. Although, now I’m not sure if I’ll be interested in reading the third book in the series since that is more of a companion book in Will’s POV as well. I didn’t know at first that Point of Retreat would be told from Will’s POV, so that was a nice surprise. I liked Point of Retreat as a follow up to Slammed, but I did like Slammed a lot more. How far does Will have to go to prove to Layken his love for her will last forever? It will require something truly extraordinary to keep this couple together, and the decisions they make and the answers they find will change not only their lives, but the lives of everyone around them.
